A sampling valve is a type of valve used in the process industry that allows the testing of a representative portion of a medium (gases, liquids, solids or slurries) (e.g. by physical measurements, chemical analysis, microbiological research), usually with for the purpose of identification, quality control or legal review. It is therefore a valve that is mainly used for taking samples. The sampling valve allows the operator to take a sample of the product from the production line or reactor and store it safely for transport to the lab where it will be analyzed or to the archive room where it can be retrieved for further use.
